What is CultTech Residency:
- Educational ProgramParticipants attend online lectures and seminars from our technical partners and beyond, focusing on enhancing the creative experience through technical tools.
- CultTech LabTechnical partners select the most compelling projects and assist creative teams in developing performative sketches that are open to further evolution.

- Applicants may choose between two options: applying for the Educational program only (requires a motivational letter) or applying for both the CultTech Lab and Educational program (requires a project proposal).
- Projects must integrate technology in a way that directly enhances their artistic value.
The involved technology should be chosen from the list of Residency technological partners - Applicants may suggest technologies outside our list if they have direct contact with the developer’s team

What we expect:
- A productive collaboration between tech solution providers and creative teams throughout our Educational Program (interactive online lectures/workshops led by tech experts and producers)
- Project sketches produced at CultTech Lab will be highlighted at the Summit discussion panel with tech companies' representatives
- Two selected and developed performative project sketches from CultTech Lab, ready for full-scale development, performed at the CultTech Summit in Vienna in October, 2025

While the CultTech LAB will run online, three of the six teams will be selected for an

2 performative sketches will be selected for further production development, the winning teams will receive a 3.000 euro production grant and will perform at the CultTech Summit 2025 in Vienna.

How to Apply
Submit your application through our online form by April 15, 2025. Applications should include:
- A short project proposal demonstrating:
- Strong artistic vision
- Feasibility and potential for further development,
- Clear understanding of the required technological input. A short video pitch outlining your project concept. - Proposed timeline of your project development aligned with the CultTech Residency timeframes.
- A justification for the chosen technology—whether from our partners or one you propose—explaining its relevance and impact on creative expression.
If you use the technology outside our partners list, please explain your access potential to the people from this company. - Current stage of project development.
- A brief team introduction, including bios, a portfolio, and links to previous works.
FAQs
We welcome teams of any size, but the number of invitations to the offline Camp may be limited. Your project should therefore be feasible to develop within this constraint.
You can apply as an individual, but make sure to demonstrate in your application that you’re able to manage the entire project on your own.
Yes. But these should be separate applications.
Yes, you can choose several partners in the submission form, but you should provide justification for every partner you have chosen.
Participants are expected to fully engage in the program’s activities.
All program activities will be conducted in English.
You can apply in case you have the direct connection to your tech developers. Together with your application you should provide us the contacts of your tech peers.
It should meet the requirements from the tech partner, indicated at their corresponding pages (see button "learn more" above).
The process of the evaluation involves the following steps:
- The expert committee evaluates project proposals, scoring their artistic value.
- Projects are rated and a threshold is set - teams below threshold join Educational program only, teams above threshold move to step 3
- Tech companies review qualifying projects and select those matching their vision and interests
To achieve the highest evaluation score:
- show how technology enhances the artistic impact of your project.
- ensure your project is realistic and achievable within the given timeframe.
- preference is given to projects with long-term growth potential over one-time initiatives.
Teams will take part in Educational Program lectures twice a month from May to September. CultTech Lab participants will work on their projects from May to early July, with weekly planning sessions with a tech mentor and monthly Lab sessions. The time commitment is flexible and self-managed.
CultTech Lab teams communicate via a dedicated Slack workspace. The CultTech team offers ongoing support to help teams collaborate effectively with their mentors. Participants have weekly calls with tech mentors and join monthly online Lab workshops.
For development of the stage-ready performance prototype (up to 20 minutes long) to be shown at the CultTech Summit.
Yes, we can consider this opportunity.
No, these are two different things. You submit your application at the beginning of the process to propose your project for participation in the CultTech Lab.
If selected, you’ll take part in the Lab and work closely with a tech partner. At the end of this process, you’ll prepare a final pitch presentation — based on your project’s development during the Lab — to compete for a production grant and the opportunity to showcase your work at the CultTech Summit.
