GrooveDeck is best understood as a modular groove and loop engine: musical cells are organized into decks, layered, and recombined in real time rather than played linearly. This is packed into the interface and constraints of a card game, purposely limiting the infinite choices of music production so the user can focus and progress by combining musical elements.
Team
The project began as a challenge to showcase the capabilities of Sony CSL’s Diff-A-Riff technology. As the AI model can generate complementary music stems for any existing context, it allows for a infinite creation of music assets deriving from the user's output. Crucially, this co-production with the AI happens on a purely musical basis—without text prompts—mirroring the dynamic of musicians jamming live on stage.
The prototype was developed within the CultTech Lab with the support of the CultTech Association. The initial MVP was realised based on a concept by Florin Gorgos, co-developed with the Sony CSL team: Cyran Aouameur, Amaury Delort, and Victor Palle.

I began with a degree in mathematics, fascinated by patterns, structures, and the quiet logic behind complex systems. Music soon became another language for exploring those same ideas. As a signed artist, I learned to transform structure into emotion and precision into feeling. Along the way, I worked as a software developer at Sony CSL, deepening my understanding of technology and its creative potential. Today, I exist at the intersection of sound and code. I’m both musician and developer, building innovative projects that merge artistic intuition with technical rigor. Blending development and music has always felt natural to me. It’s where logic becomes expressive, and creativity becomes engineered.
Cyran Aouameur
Cyran Aouameur is a Research Engineer at Sony CSL Paris. With the computer as his primary instrument, he approaches music technology through a scientific and creative lens. At Sony CSL, he focuses on transforming research breakthroughs into functional prototypes and interactive demos through collaboration with professional artists. His work aims to make cutting-edge AI tools both accessible and impactful in real-world musical contexts.
Amaury Delort
Florin is a composer and creative operating at the edge of interactive media. Holding a Mag.art in Media Composition from Vienna’s mdw, he has refined his craft with industry giants like Red Bull Media House and Synchron Stage. Driven to challenge the static relation between the music player and receiver, he combines his background in contemporary concert music with game engines to build self-sustained creative ecosystems. With GrooveDeck, he is turning his expertise in lateral thinking and composition into a playable, modular experience.
